Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Neotropical Biodiversity)
The Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Neotropical Biodiversity) - PPGBIO aims to form highly qualified researchers to work on Neotropical Biodiversity based on a holistic approach to biological diversity with emphasis on Patterns and Processes of Biodiversity, its uses, conservation and sustainability. This central objective converges to the improvement of knowledge and methodological approaches, which allow the trained professional to refine his thinking, organize his concepts and hypotheses, and rationalize, in an integrated manner, his performance on knowledge, monitoring and use of biodiversity. Therefore, the Program intends to:
- Bring together researchers that act on Biodiversity, integrating different complementary approaches, in a Graduate program encouraging research and academic training;
- Provide opportunities for interested professionals to design and execute research projects, improving and developing advanced studies in Biodiversity and, at the same time, qualifying them for the job market;
- Consolidate a center for scientific production and professional training focused on Biodiversity.
Accordingly, the Graduate Program objectives to arise the sensitivity of its target audience to issues of sustainable development considering the biological diversity and ecosystems. Moreover, the program aims to promote scientific advances in the field of Biological Sciences, including the recovery and conservation of species and their habitats.
